We all get thirsty and in response we reach for our favorite beverage and hopefully it’s not just caffeine beverages. Our bodies require a lot of water. Our bodies are made up of 70% water. Did you know that your skin gets thirsty too? So many of us from time to time may not even realize how dehydrated our skin can get and particularly on our face. Some of the signs of thirsty skin are dryness, irritation, more wrinkles, less firmness, dull appearance, dark circles, and older looking skin. Our skin is the last place nutrients go as our body requires a lot for our cells to be healthy and if we are not putting in enough, our skin really pays the price. It’s not just about what we put on the outside of our skin that matters, but what we are feeding our skin from the inside out too.
We all want to be eating a healthy diet filled with lots of colorful vegetables and fruits (preferably organic), organic whole grains, plant based protein that is non GMO, lean meat such as antibiotic/hormone free chicken, turkey and wild caught fish. If you eat any red meat, I would encourage grass-fed beef without antibiotics and hormones. Antibiotic/hormone free and nitrate free lunch meats are recommended as well. Let’s not forget the water! We all want to make sure we are drinking enough and the rule of thumb is to drink half of your body weight in ounces. It is important to drink purified water that has been filtered properly to remove the chemicals and toxins that are so often in tap water. In addition to eating a healthy diet, drinking enough water, we want to be filling in the gaps with safe, high quality, clinically tested nutritional supplements. Not all supplements are created equal and many are filled with so much junk that they can cause imbalances and contribute to more health issues. I am careful to work with only the highest quality for myself, family and clients. I am happy to share more on what I use and work with. Some supplements that are very key in helping to hydrate our skin are essential fatty acids such as omega’s. I recommend everyone to get these in as our bodies do not manufacture them and our cells require these. The only way to get them is through the diet and supplementing. They bring down inflammation and also are nature’s moisturizer. I always recommend a multi-vitamin, b complex, carotenoids such as vitamin E and A, minerals, and also protein. Protein is number one for skin health above calcium.
Let’s not forget our skincare for the outside of our skin! It is important to use skincare that does not have toxic ingredients and believe me, so many do have them. This is an area that I have been studying more and have been so excited to find a line of skincare that has been clinically proven to repair the DNA to our skin cells, hydrate at the cellular level, and reverse the skin age up to 10 years. 100% of the participants in the studies showed proven results in reversing the skin age. did you know that there are up to 2700 toxic ingredients used in most personal care products including more natural lines and premier lines? Pretty scary. There has been some exciting new breakthroughs in scientific research around the whole area of anti-aging and I have been blessed to be able to work for the past year with a new skincare line that is committed to not using 2700 toxic ingredients in their formulations. a skincare that is proving that you can have clinical results without compromise. Does that not sound great? I know my skin as well as my clients have been showing tremendous results and I am loving it!
So you may be asking the question, “Is my skin thirsty?” Most people would fall into the category of needing more hydration. The good news is that you can fix this problem. You can hydrate and revitalize your skin today and I am happy to help you.
It’s time to hydrate!
